Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician II to operate and support physical facilities in their data centers. You'll work with controls and automation systems, requiring experience in technical environments and relevant certifications.
You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With at least 2 years of experience in controls and automation within an industrial or commercial environment, you are comfortable participating in material handling tasks and using safety equipment. You are flexible with work hours and rotations, adapting to the needs of the data center environment. Your background includes industry-standard certifications related to system administration, such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and CompTIA Security+, along with experience in scripting languages. You possess knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, relays, and troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
As a Data Center Facilities Technician II at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities systems and equipment in the data center. You will be responsible for controlling, monitoring, logging, and alarming systems, ensuring they function optimally. Your role will involve supporting the startup, commissioning, and integration of new controls equipment into the facilities infrastructure. You will communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on the data center systems, ensuring that all work aligns with safety and operational standards. You will also conduct tours of systems, assess their working order, and respond to any abnormal conditions that arise in the facilities.
