Job Description

Our Amazon Devices & Services mission is to invent and deliver ground-breaking experiences that are great on their own, and magical when seamlessly working together. We set audacious goals and are looking for people who can help us exceed them. We are looking for a senior leader, based in Tokyo, to manage all aspects of our Amazon Devices business in Japan.

Amazon Devices, the team behind Alexa, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Ring and Kindle, is one of the most innovative and fastest growing businesses at Amazon. We are looking for a smart, high-energy sales and marketing leader who is passionate about products, brands and connecting customers with our devices and services across online/offline sales channels. This is a high visibility role with broad reach and impact.

As the Amazon Devices JP Leader, you will be responsible for all sales/marketing activities, including building awareness for our device brands. You will lead a team of highly motivated marketing, product and sales professionals to develop and implement the go-to-market strategies for Japan. You will be the “voice of the customer” and instrumental in providing feedback to assist our product teams and channel partners in developing customer experiences.

The ideal candidate will have managed an independent business unit with a well-defined business strategy, online and offline sales/marketing experience, lasting partner alliances and solid account management in a rapid growing business environment, creative leadership with exceptional judgment and the ability to deliver under ambiguous and challenging circumstances.

The position is based in Amazon’s Japan Headquarters in Tokyo reporting to the Vice President, Amazon Devices International on the Amazon Devices and Services team.


Key job responsibilities
- Manage the team with full P&L responsibility for the Japan business as well as determining the launch strategy for all new device and service launches together with the in-store customer experience in partnership with our offline retail partners.
- Hire, manage, develop a world class team across multiple business functions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of hiring stars and developing future business leaders from within their organization.
- Build and execute go-to-market strategies for Amazon devices, services and accessories through Amazon platform and various retail channels. All functions in online selling (site merchandising, demand generation, visual design) and offline retail (account management, marketing, and business development) will report to the Director.
- Create yearly, and multi-year, strategic plans with associated P&L forecasts. Managing all aspects of the Amazon Devices and Services wholesale P&L, including inventory, order management, fulfillment, and associated financials. The ideal candidate will have an experience managing businesses by strong analytical skills and insight. They will have a demonstrated record of growing revenue while simultaneously improving operational performance.
- Negotiate with Japanese retailers on assortment decisions and grow retail partner network. Create a best in class in-store experience together with retail partners to best present Amazon Devices and Services to end consumers.
- Work with technical teams to identify Japan specific customer needs to ensure we have the right products and services for Japanese customers.- Demonstrable sales/ marketing field experience, including experience hiring, developing and leading teams to deliver stretching targets.
- Strong track record in the Consumer Electronics industry
- Strong business judgment to solve problems and to deliver success
- Effective communication to direct and engage the team
- Oral and written fluency in English
- Business level Japanese speaking ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders
- Significant experience in the Japan market
- Bachelor's degree- Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree
- Tenacity to develop ideas independently, thrive in a fast-paced environment and convert ideas into tangible business results
- Willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
