From drones to grocery stores and everything in between, our mission is to assess risk, classify data and systems, detect potential intrusion, and respond quickly to security events across Amazon’s critical business functions, including Retail, Customer Service, Worldwide Operations, Consumer Payments, Physical Stores, and Healthcare. Within Stores Security, the Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations (VMR Operations) organization is responsible for all aspects of the Vulnerability Management lifecycle across Amazon including intake, assessment, discovery, and remediation.
The VMR Operations organization is looking for a passionate, insightful, and results-oriented Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to help manage our ever-growing datasets across VMR Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for building insights and driving strategic business decisions through data. You will design and implement data-driven solutions to business problems related to vulnerability management tools and processes. You will harmonize data from disparate locations and partner with security engineers and leaders to bring clarity to priorities and risk. Finally, you will be challenged with proactive analysis of large datasets to uncover key insights as you learn about and integrate critical systems across Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead the development of robust BI solutions for complex problems, that are extensible and scalable.
• Deep understanding of business objectives and continually align work with those objectives to meet needs of business.
• Develop data strategies that cut across functional teams and make technical trade-off decisions for long term/short-term needs.
• Detailed understanding of Amazon's data resources and know how, when, and which to use, and which not to use.
• Serve as liaison between the business and engineering team to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current business performance, and ad-hoc investigations to support future improvements or innovations.
• Write high quality code to retrieve and analyze and build data visualizations to tell the story of business trends, patterns, and outliers through rich visualizations.

- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
