Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive experience in software engineering, particularly in graphics programming, and are well-versed in C++ and Rust. You understand the intricacies of rendering performance and have a solid grasp of architectural improvements in browser engines. Your background includes working across multiple platforms, including Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux, which equips you to tackle diverse challenges in rendering content efficiently.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy participating in code reviews, ensuring that quality and security are maintained in all software releases. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly makes you a valuable team member, and you are committed to contributing to open-source projects that align with Mozilla's mission.

Desirable

Experience with the Gecko Browser engine or similar rendering engines is a plus. Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for high-resolution displays will set you apart. You are passionate about improving user experiences on the web and have a keen interest in the latest advancements in graphics technology.

What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Graphics Team, you will define and drive architectural improvements for rendering in the Gecko Browser engine. Your primary focus will be on enhancing rendering performance, particularly for high-resolution displays, ensuring that users enjoy a seamless experience while using Firefox. You will write high-quality software in C++ and Rust, including comprehensive tests and documentation to support your work.

You will participate in regular code reviews, providing constructive feedback to your peers and helping to maintain the overall quality of the codebase. Your role will involve collaborating with other teams to integrate new features and improvements, ensuring that the rendering engine meets the evolving needs of users.

You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of learning within the team. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of Mozilla's products, helping to shape the future of the internet.

What we offer

At Mozilla, you will be part of a mission-driven organization that prioritizes user privacy and an open internet. We offer a competitive salary range of €80,000—€117,000 EUR, along with a comprehensive benefits package that supports your well-being and professional growth. You will have the flexibility to work remotely from Germany, allowing you to balance your personal and professional life effectively.

Join us in our commitment to making the internet better for people, not companies. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your passion for technology and dedication to improving user experiences are what truly matter.
