SpaceX is hiring a Senior Supplier Development Engineer for the Starlink project to ensure continuity of supply for printed circuit boards (PCBs). You'll collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams while working closely with suppliers. This role requires expertise in PCB design and supply chain strategies.
You have 5+ years of experience in supplier development or engineering, particularly in the electronics or aerospace industries — your background includes working with printed circuit boards (PCBs) and understanding the complexities of supply chain management. You possess strong technical skills in PCB design and are familiar with tools like Altium Designer, which you have used to create and modify PCB layouts effectively. Your experience with embedded systems and electrical engineering principles allows you to communicate effectively with both suppliers and internal teams, ensuring that all components meet the necessary specifications and quality standards.
You thrive in cross-functional environments — your ability to collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams has been key to your success in previous roles. You are adept at problem-solving and can think creatively to develop effective supply chain strategies that align with production goals. Your strong analytical skills enable you to assess supplier performance and implement improvements where necessary, ensuring that continuity of supply is maintained.
You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of the regulatory and compliance aspects of supplier management — you ensure that all suppliers adhere to industry standards and best practices. Your communication skills are excellent, allowing you to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders alike. You are committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance processes and efficiencies.
Experience in the aerospace or satellite industry is a plus, as is familiarity with the specific challenges associated with high-volume production of electronic components. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies would be beneficial in this role, as you will be expected to drive efficiency and quality improvements throughout the supply chain.
As a Senior Supplier Development Engineer at SpaceX, you will own the continuity of supply for printed circuit boards (PCBs) used in the Starlink project. This involves working closely with suppliers to ensure that they meet SpaceX's high standards for quality and reliability. You will be responsible for developing and implementing supply chain strategies that align with production goals, collaborating with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to address any issues that arise.
You will conduct regular assessments of supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement and working with suppliers to implement corrective actions. Your role will require you to stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in PCB technology, ensuring that SpaceX remains at the forefront of innovation in satellite communications.
In addition to managing supplier relationships, you will also participate in cross-functional teams to support the development and production of Starlink satellites and gateways. Your insights will be invaluable in ensuring that all components are integrated seamlessly into the overall system. You will play a key role in troubleshooting any supply chain disruptions and will be expected to develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to making space travel accessible and sustainable. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development.
