Job Description

The Global Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) Central Asset Science & Technology (AST) team is comprised of several key sub-teams that work together to drive innovation and excellence in asset management practices across the enterprise. The team delivers scalable and global science driven software solutions to automate or optimize manual efforts, improve quality of work, and simplify day-to-day operations related to safety, reliability, and effective equipment management at sites across the globe. In addition to building greenfield science driven software products, the AST Software Development Engineering team provides back-end technical support, including application troubleshooting, system development, and software integrations with the Asset Performance Management (APM) software.

A Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) in the AST Software Development Engineering team is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable software systems. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including designers and peer developers, to ensure that solutions meet both technical and user requirements. They handle complex projects across the full software development lifecycle, from design and coding to testing, deployment, and maintenance. They are expected to ensure high-quality standards and performance.

A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise as well as the ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment within a large global company to deliver solid code that has a broad business impact. The primary focus will be on the development of web-based applications including testing, documentation, and deployment to worldwide Amazon locations. You’ll be interfacing with distributed to optimize and automate internal processes across a worldwide network. Key job responsibilities

- Work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to develop friendly UI experiences.
- Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical design.
- Develop the engineers of an existing “two pizza” scrum team.

- Help with hiring and mentoring.
- Take user-facing features from design to implementation, coding both the UI and backend functionality.
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

A day in the life
The Asset Science & Technology (AST) Software Development team within Global Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) is seeking a Software Development Engineer. This role involves designing and building customer-facing interfaces and backend services for one of the largest RME enterprises. The team's mission is to create products that enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and equipment management, supporting strategic initiatives through data. Responsibilities include overseeing technical architecture, ensuring code quality, developing the Spare Parts management application (SPARSY), and integrating various tools. The role requires managing multiple priorities, adapting quickly, and focusing on customer needs.- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
