Job Description

The Community Impact Comms team is seeking a high-judgment and self-motivated communications professional to lead disaster relief communications for Amazon. This person will serve as a primary point of contact for Amazon’s communications before, during, and after natural disasters—rapidly responding to crisis situations and proactively identifying opportunities to communicate Amazon’s relief efforts.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management skills, thrive in ambiguous situations, and excel at building scalable processes. They should be able to toggle between immediate response needs and long-term strategic planning, while maintaining Amazon's high bar for clear, effective communication.


Key job responsibilities
Crisis Communications

• Serve as a primary communications point of contact during a natural disaster, building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships
• React to media escalations and provide measured and trusted counsel to business leaders, working in coordination with issues management teams and local PR teams
• Develop and document playbooks for managing Amazon’s communications during natural disasters

Proactive Communications & Media Relations

• Set and drive proactive communications strategy about Amazon’s global disaster relief hubs, global logistics, and technology support
• Identify trends, working across business leaders as well as across the communications and public policy organizations to drive storytelling on relief efforts
• Educate media contacts about Amazon’s global disaster relief strategy
• Serve as a communications advisor to executives, preparing media briefings and counsel
- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
- Bachelor's degree- Excellent attention to detail
- Customer-service oriented with solid people skills
- Demonstrated experience building trust and influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Ability to think strategically and implement ideas from ideation to measurement/evaluation
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
