Engineering Manager, Pixel System

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience in Embedded Systems with Linux Kernel and Drivers.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with System On a Chip and Android BSP.
• Ability to manage the team to develop and customize Linux, Android
  Board Support Package (BSP), with a focus on low-level hardware interactions and device driver integration.

We are a system software team that works on software that enables Pixel and Android software to run on Pixel hardware. Our team makes sure that the software system works perfectly. We are looking for an engineering manager with a broad knowledge of the systems. Pixel has specialist teams that cover many areas of system software - audio, sensors, power management, wifi, modems, display, touch, and many more. We work on ARM64 bootloader code, Linux kernel drivers, userspace HALs and applications, and occasionally some Android userspace code.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

• Define, implement, and deliver broad changes to how we approach our system software to ultimately improve the pixel product as shipped.
• Provide software development and software expertise to a wide variety of teams - system software, product teams, technology and hardware teams.
• Lead our Payment Card Industry (PCIe) driver implementation and collaboration with PCIe endpoint teams.
• Scope out, prototype, pitch, and execute system-level projects which have a direct impact on Pixel Product goals.
• Expertise and consult to partner organizations.
