Job Description

The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon’s scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.

As part of the Worldwide Environment team, Amazon's Worldwide Carbon team is dedicated to working across the company with our business units to make operational changes to accelerate solutions and decarbonize our businesses to achieve the Climate Pledge.

The WW Carbon team is seeking a Sr. Sustainability Specialist to develop and manage a carbon reduction credit program across our global value chain. This strategic role combines technical expertise in carbon abatement and accounting with hands-on project management to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon technologies. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in carbon program management and market-based mechanisms, with a proven track record of executing successful sustainability initiatives and transactions.

Working at the intersection of science and business, this position will foster collaboration between Amazon's internal teams and external partners, including technology developers, research institutions, and non-profit organizations. The role requires someone who can navigate complex operational challenges while maintaining rigorous attention to project schedules, contracts, and deliverables. We seek a forward-thinking problem solver who excels at risk identification and mitigation, with the ability to translate carbon accounting principles into practical evaluation procedures.

A successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in carbon reduction, removal, energy, or broader sustainability programs, along with a thorough understanding of market-based carbon accounting mechanisms. This role offers the opportunity to drive meaningful impact in Amazon's sustainability journey while working with diverse stakeholders to scale innovative climate solutions.

Key job responsibilities

- Build and maintain strategic relationships with technology developers, research institutions, and industry partners
- Create innovative business models that help accelerate scaling of low-carbon technologies
- Translate complex technical and carbon accounting concepts into actionable business recommendations
- Provide regular updates and strategic insights to senior leadership and key stakeholders
