Airbnb is seeking a Lead Risk Manager to oversee complex fraud investigations and enhance operational excellence within the AirCover Fraud Operations team. This role requires strong collaboration with various teams to protect the Airbnb community from evolving threats.
You have a proven track record in managing investigations related to fraud, with a focus on complex cases that require a strategic approach. Your experience includes working cross-functionally with teams such as Data Science, Product, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Community Policies, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the risks involved in the marketplace. You are adept at analyzing data and trends to identify potential fraud risks and develop proactive measures to mitigate them. Your leadership skills enable you to guide your team effectively, fostering a culture of excellence in investigation practices. You are committed to protecting the integrity of the platform and the safety of its users, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and ethical standards in your work.
Experience in the travel or hospitality industry is a plus, as is familiarity with regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks. You are comfortable navigating complex legal and policy landscapes, and you have a knack for communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders. Your analytical mindset allows you to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve operational processes.
In this role, you will lead investigations into the most complex fraud cases, ensuring that your team is equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to disrupt risks before they escalate. You will establish best practices for investigations, setting high standards for your team's performance and outcomes. Collaborating closely with Data Science, you will utilize analytics to identify patterns and trends that inform your strategies. You will also work with Product teams to implement features that enhance fraud detection and prevention capabilities. Your role will involve regular reporting to senior management on investigation outcomes and risk assessments, providing insights that drive strategic decisions.
You will be responsible for developing training programs for your team, ensuring they are well-versed in the latest fraud detection techniques and tools. Additionally, you will represent the Fraud Operations team in cross-departmental meetings, advocating for resources and support to enhance the team's effectiveness. Your success will be measured by the reduction of fraud incidents and the overall improvement of community trust in the Airbnb platform.
Airbnb offers a competitive salary range of $97,000 to $121,000 CAD annually, along with potential bonuses and equity options.
