Staff Software Engineer, Google Cloud Storage API

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development. Your background includes at least 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, as well as building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks. You have a strong understanding of compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture, and have spent 3 years focusing on performance tuning or optimization. Ideally, you hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, and have 5 years of experience developing cloud-based storage systems.

You are familiar with building or supporting high-performance Machine Learning infrastructure and have contributed to or maintained significant open-source projects, particularly those related to cloud storage, networking, or gRPC/API protocols. Your experience includes working with caching technologies and optimizing data locality in distributed environments. You are passionate about developing next-generation technologies that change how users connect and interact with information.

What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer at Google, you will work on critical projects within the Google Cloud Storage API space, ensuring high-quality solutions are delivered. You will provide technical guidance and establish partnerships with engineering teams across Google Cloud to unify serving architectures and solve organizational issues.
