Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in backend development, and have a strong understanding of system architecture and design principles. Your expertise in Java allows you to build scalable and efficient applications, and you are comfortable working with REST APIs to integrate various services. You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering with product, design, and data science teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are passionate about improving user experiences and have a track record of solving complex problems in a thoughtful manner. You understand the importance of writing clean, maintainable code and are familiar with best practices in software development, including testing and code reviews. You are eager to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of learning and growth within your team.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure would be a plus, as well as familiarity with modern development tools and methodologies like Agile or DevOps practices. Knowledge of database management systems and performance optimization techniques will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Sponsored Results team, you will play a critical role in scaling and evolving one of Zocdoc’s largest growth engines. You will partner closely with product, design, data science, and infrastructure teams to modernize the systems that power our Sponsored Results platform. Your responsibilities will include refactoring backend services and APIs for scalability, ensuring that our systems can handle increased traffic and provide a seamless user experience. You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment. You will also participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to your peers, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our platform, helping to empower patients in their healthcare journey.
