Coupang is hiring a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to innovate and build systems that fulfill customer orders efficiently. You'll work with Java, Spring, and AWS to enhance the e-commerce experience. This role requires significant backend engineering experience.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable production systems — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated complex distributed systems challenges. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to create high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture and testing strategies. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improve customer experiences. You are comfortable with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and understand how to leverage them to enhance system performance and reliability. You are a problem solver at heart, always looking for ways to optimize processes and improve efficiency. You believe in the power of data-driven decision-making and are eager to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes would be a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools is also desirable, as is a background in e-commerce or logistics technology.
