Hermeus is seeking a Director of Business Development to expand engagement with the U.S. Navy. You'll leverage your established network and technical fluency to drive partnerships and programs. This role requires a deep understanding of naval aviation and hypersonics.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in business development, particularly within the defense sector, with at least 5 years of experience working directly with the U.S. Navy or Department of War. Your established network within the Navy and understanding of naval aviation requirements make you an ideal candidate for this role. You are technically fluent in hypersonics and rapid prototyping, allowing you to effectively communicate complex concepts to stakeholders. You thrive in environments where you can convert relationships into meaningful partnerships, programs, and contracts, and you are passionate about advancing high-Mach and hypersonic aviation.

You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to represent Hermeus's vision to naval stakeholders effectively. Your ability to identify emerging Navy requirements and work seamlessly with engineering and product teams is crucial. You are a strategic thinker who understands the Pentagon’s decision-making ecosystem and can navigate it to foster collaboration and innovation. You are committed to building a diverse team and accelerating government partnerships to support the Navy's operational needs.

Desirable

Experience with high-speed aircraft manufacturing or related technologies is a plus. Familiarity with the latest advancements in hypersonic technology and naval operational concepts will enhance your ability to contribute to Hermeus's mission. A background in engineering or technical fields can also be beneficial, as it will allow you to engage more deeply with product teams.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the Business Development team at Hermeus, focusing on expanding our engagement within the U.S. Navy and the broader Department of War. You will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities that align with our strategic goals. Your role will involve building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the Navy, ensuring that Hermeus is positioned as a leader in high-Mach and hypersonic aviation.

You will collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to understand their capabilities and how they can meet the Navy's operational needs. By leveraging your technical fluency, you will help translate complex technical concepts into compelling proposals and presentations for naval stakeholders. Your ability to identify emerging requirements will be critical in shaping our business strategy and ensuring that we remain at the forefront of innovation in the defense sector.

You will also play a key role in developing and executing strategies to secure contracts and partnerships that advance our mission. This will involve conducting market research, analyzing competitive landscapes, and identifying potential partners that align with our vision. You will be expected to represent Hermeus at industry events and conferences, showcasing our capabilities and building our brand within the defense community.
