Turion Space is seeking a Senior GNC Engineer to design and develop algorithms for aerospace systems. You'll work with MATLAB, Python, and C++ to optimize spacecraft trajectories. This role requires 5+ years of experience in GNC or trajectory optimization.
You have a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, and you bring over 5 years of experience in Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Rendezvous, Proximity Operations (RPO), or trajectory optimization for aerospace applications. Your expertise includes developing and validating algorithms and simulation frameworks, particularly in the context of complex aerospace systems. You are skilled in using tools such as GPOPS and YAPPS for multi-segment trajectory optimization, and you understand the intricacies of multi-body dynamics and collision avoidance.
You are adept at integrating high-fidelity models into simulation environments, supporting both rapid prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. Your collaborative spirit shines through as you work with multidisciplinary teams to define requirements, develop test plans, and deliver robust software solutions. You have experience in real-time software development, automatic code generation, and embedded hardware interface design, which allows you to contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of simulation infrastructure for both aerospace and undersea applications.
You are meticulous in documenting designs, performing code reviews, and supporting verification and validation activities, ensuring that all aspects of your work meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. Your strong analytical skills enable you to tackle complex problems and develop innovative solutions that drive project success.
Experience with advanced RPO algorithms and simulation tools is a plus, as is familiarity with trajectory optimization for commercial and defense satellite applications. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to take on new challenges that push the boundaries of aerospace technology.
In this role, you will join the Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) group at Turion Space, where you will be responsible for designing, developing, validating, and maintaining dynamic simulations and infrastructure for rapid assessment, integration, and testing of complex aerospace systems. You will support the advanced RPO algorithms and simulation tools, focusing on trajectory optimization for both commercial and defense satellite applications.
Your key responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and validating RPO algorithms and simulation frameworks. You will design and optimize spacecraft trajectories for RPO missions, ensuring fuel efficiency and effective collision avoidance. You will integrate high-fidelity models into simulation environments, which will support rapid prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to define requirements and develop test plans. You will also deliver robust software solutions that meet the needs of various stakeholders. Additionally, you will support real-time software development, automatic code generation, and embedded hardware interface design, contributing to the overall success of the GNC group.
You will document your designs thoroughly, perform code reviews, and support verification and validation activities to ensure that all systems function as intended. Your contributions will play a vital role in the development and maintenance of simulation infrastructure for both aerospace and undersea applications, making a significant impact on the projects you work on.
At Turion Space, we value innovation and collaboration, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all team members can thrive. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work on cutting-edge technology that shapes the future of aerospace systems, and your work will directly contribute to the success of our missions.
