Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Structures Technician for the Starship project to modify, repair, and assemble rocket components. You'll work with advanced manufacturing equipment and perform testing operations. This role requires hands-on experience with tools and machinery.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical assembly and manufacturing processes, with hands-on experience in modifying, repairing, and assembling complex structures. You are skilled in operating sheet metal manufacturing equipment and advanced manufacturing tools, including CNCs and welding machines. Your attention to detail ensures that all components are aligned and secured correctly, and you are familiar with the use of various tools such as rivet guns and drill motors. You understand the importance of following precise specifications and drawings to ensure the integrity of rocket and spacecraft components.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace manufacturing or similar industries is a plus, as is familiarity with testing operations for structural components. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to the evolving needs of a cutting-edge aerospace company.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for modifying, repairing, and assembling rocket and spacecraft components. You will align parts and secure them in place using clecos or tooling/hand clamps, ensuring that all components meet the required specifications. Operating sheet metal manufacturing equipment such as CNCs, brake presses, and rollers will be a key part of your daily tasks. You will also utilize advanced manufacturing equipment, including robots and welders, to facilitate the production process.

Routine maintenance procedures for tooling and equipment will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all machinery is in optimal working condition. You will install mechanical fasteners in the correct sequence per drawing, using the appropriate tools to ensure secure assembly. Additionally, you will facilitate and perform testing operations on rocket and spacecraft structures, including pressurized testing and fatigue testing, to validate the integrity of the components.
