Google is seeking a Senior Staff Data Center Engineer specializing in Mechanical Engineering to lead the design and optimization of data center systems. You'll leverage your expertise in mechanical design and power management to enhance operational efficiencies. This role requires 12 years of experience in data center engineering.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, and bring at least 12 years of experience in data center power management and rack design. Your expertise extends to liquid cooling systems, and you possess a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, particularly in designing modular building scale assemblies. You are familiar with mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis, and you have a strong background in estimating, designing, operating, and commissioning mission-critical data center mechanical equipment. Your knowledge of international building codes and design for medium-scale production sets you apart as a leader in the field.
You are a visionary who thrives on optimizing efficiencies and continuously seeks improvements. You have a proven track record of generating innovative ideas and effectively communicating recommendations to senior-level executives. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work seamlessly with facilities technicians to drive implementation and ensure that designs meet operational requirements.
A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or a relevant field, or a professional engineering license would be advantageous. Experience in conducting engineering analysis and research designs for data center equipment and facilities is also preferred.
In this role, you will define data center system-level product architecture and contribute to research and development efforts. You will help develop operations and maintenance procedures for systems and processes, ensuring that all designs and installations meet critical requirements such as predicted cooling and structural integrity. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough engineering analyses and research to enhance the design and functionality of data center equipment and facilities.
You will collaborate with a team of engineers and technicians to tackle complex challenges in data center design, focusing on environmentally-friendly solutions that align with Google's commitment to sustainability. Your role will involve not only technical design but also strategic planning and execution, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
