CC++Python

Overview

SpaceX is hiring a GNC Engineer to design and implement physics-based simulation software for space vehicles. You'll work with C, C++, and Python to analyze complex systems and drive program-level requirements. This role requires a strong background in guidance, navigation, and control systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a solid background in guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems, with experience in designing and implementing simulation software for complex systems. Your expertise in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python allows you to build robust software tools that perform system-of-systems performance analysis. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy tackling challenging problems that advance the space industry.

You possess a strong understanding of 6-DOF dynamics simulation models and have experience developing physics-based models for RF communications and sensor systems. Your analytical skills enable you to assess the feasibility of various designs and recommend optimal solutions that balance competing requirements. You are detail-oriented and take ownership of critical trades and design decisions, ensuring that all aspects of the project are thoroughly considered.

You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can effectively communicate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams. Your passion for space exploration drives you to contribute to innovative projects that have a significant impact on the future of humanity in space. You are eager to collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to create cutting-edge solutions that push the boundaries of technology.

Desirable

Experience with multi-vehicle mission design and architecture definition is a plus. Familiarity with space systems and ground infrastructure will enhance your ability to contribute to the team. A background in systems engineering or related fields will also be beneficial as you navigate the complexities of GNC systems.

What you'll do

As a GNC Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for designing and implementing physics-based system-of-systems simulation software that captures the interactions between various space vehicles, ground systems, and environments. You will build software tools and construct scenarios to perform performance analysis of architectures that include satellites, sensors, communications, and ground infrastructure. Your role will involve conducting analyses and recommending designs that balance competing requirements, ensuring that all aspects of the mission are optimized for success.

You will develop 6-DOF dynamics simulation models used for GNC systems analysis and validation, allowing for accurate assessments of system performance. Additionally, you will create physics-based models for the simulation of RF communications and sensor systems, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the mission architecture. Your work will involve assessing the feasibility of various designs in support of architecture definition, ensuring that all systems are integrated seamlessly.

You will collaborate with other engineering groups, taking extreme ownership of critical trades and design decisions. Your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams will be essential as you drive program-level requirements for large multi-vehicle missions. You will have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects that advance the space industry and contribute to SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploring the stars. We offer a dynamic work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration. You will have access to cutting-edge tools and technologies, allowing you to develop your skills and grow in your career.

We believe in fostering a culture of collaboration and support, where every team member is valued for their unique contributions. You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry, sharing knowledge and expertise to drive success. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value curiosity and a growth mindset.

Join us at SpaceX and be part of a mission that is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not exploring the stars.
