Job Description

Amazon's Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer who is passionate, innovative and has a strong drive to automate and simplify. The Devices Technologies team is responsible for products and services that manage Amazon's edge compute fleet - 1,000,000+ devices across 3000+ locations worldwide. Our systems manage everything from leading edge robotics, to delivery stations across the globe. We deliver innovative technical solutions to facilitate the massive growth in Amazon compute capabilities globally.

We are looking for entrepreneurial and invention driven individuals who thrive on solving hard problems. Amazon's fulfillment technologies are ever growing and exploring new frontiers, new approaches, new problems, and new solutions. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team always looking for ways to invent and and simplify for our customers.

This is a high ownership role with significant scope and ambiguity. We are looking for individuals with a proven track record of working cross-functionally to define and design new technical strategies and solutions from the ground up. As a Senior SDE on this team, you will be responsible for the full product lifecycle from the very beginning of an exciting new product, and partnering with senior leadership to help grow an engineering team in a new product space. We are a greenfield initiative, and you will play an active role in translating business requirements into concrete systems.



Key job responsibilities
- You will design, develop and deploy reliable distributed solutions that operate at Amazon scale.
- You will work with a variety of core languages and technologies including Java, Python, Linux, and AWS services, including GreenGrass and IOT.
- You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and will have the opportunity to work alongside talented Amazon engineers to redefine an industry.
- Along the way, we guarantee that you’ll learn a ton, have fun and make a positive impact on many people.

Experience with embedded systems and networking is preferred but not required.

At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you’re passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply!- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience working with embedded systems and/or networking stacks
