Manager, Production Management (Unscripted/예능) - Korea

We are seeking a highly experienced and collaborative Production Management (Unscripted) Manager to help elevate Netflix's production of unscripted content in Korea. This role plays a critical part in shaping our production approach, strengthening partnerships with top creators and vendors, and ensuring that each series is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

The Opportunity

As Netflix expands its slate of Korean Unscripted (예능) Local Language Originals, we are seeking an experienced Manager of Production Management (Unscripted) to lead production operations across our diverse and rapidly growing lineup. This role is responsible for overseeing shows from development through delivery, guiding producers and production partners, and building strong vendor and crew ecosystems that support Netflix’s creative ambitions.

You will partner closely with Creative, Post, Finance, Legal, Studio Technology, Production HR, and external production companies to ensure our unscripted titles are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality. The ideal candidate is proactive, solutions-driven, highly organized, and thrives in unpredictable, fast-moving field environments that are typical of unscripted production.

Responsibilities:
 

Pre-Production / Show Setup

• Partner with Creative, Post, Finance, Legal, Studio Technology, and external production teams to establish production plans, workflows, timelines, and cost efficiencies.

• Build production frameworks that accommodate unscripted-specific needs (e.g., casting flow, location-heavy shoots, participant care, flexible run sheets).

• Support safe production protocols and ensure compliance with Netflix production standards.

• Help establish key show staffing structures and provide visibility cross-functionally.

• Communicate closely with key production company personnel to ensure a smooth onboarding process, helping them understand Netflix’s processes and policies and prepare effectively for the show.
   

Budgeting & Cost Management

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to prepare and review unscripted show budgets and schedules.

• Provide clear feedback on feasibility, risks, and cost implications; work with teams to finalize budgets.

• Track all production-related costs and proactively update stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.

• Review timely cost reports and trackers with the Finance department.

• Ensure productions run smoothly, remain safe, meet deadlines, and stay within approved budgets.

• Given the inherently unpredictable nature of unscripted production, this role anticipates and manages the various variables that may arise throughout the production lifecycle and their potential impact on the budget.

• Manager partners closely with production companies and internal teams to identify optimal solutions for both the project and Netflix, responding with flexibility and sound judgment.

Scheduling

• Draft, review, and refine production schedules tailored for unscripted workflows, including multi-location shoots, cast/participant logistics, and unpredictable field dynamics.

• Work closely with internal teams (Post, Localization, Publicity, Distribution) and external producers to finalize schedules.

• Communicate changes and troubleshoot impacts across teams.

Staffing & Vendors

• Lead or support recruitment of key production staff (e.g., PDs, LPs, technical crews, field teams).

• Identify, assess, and maintain a robust vendor ecosystem aligned with creative needs, budget efficiency, incentives, and location considerations.

• Curate and maintain a preferred vendor list tailored to the unique demands of unscripted production.

• Identify any additional staffing needs required to meet Netflix’s unscripted production standards and support production partners in securing and utilizing these roles effectively.

Ongoing Production Support

• Troubleshoot issues efficiently as they arise—whether in field operations, participant care, safety, or logistics.

• Maintain open, transparent communication with showrunners, producers, and external production companies.

• Partner with Production HR and Diligence teams to ensure respectful, ethical treatment of all crew and participants, both on and off set.

• Support productions from development through delivery, ensuring alignment with Netflix production values.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Line Producer/Producer/Production Management team member (제작PD, 연출, 조연출, 제작관리 등) overseeing medium-to-high budget unscripted/entertainment shows for studios, networks, or major production companies.

• Proven ability to remain calm and lead with empathy in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

• Experience managing multiple unscripted projects either one by one or simultaneously across all stages of production.

• Deep understanding of unscripted production workflows, trends, and on-set dynamics, including multi-cam, field-based production, and fast-turn formats.

• Familiarity with HD/4K workflows and current production technologies.

• Ability to respond to urgent matters outside standard hours when needed.

• Strong prioritization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Discretion when handling confidential information.

• Energetic and positive individual with strong interpersonal awareness and a good sense of team dynamics

• Collaborative team player who fosters a supportive and positive work environment with demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

• Fluency in Korean required; proficiency in English preferred.
