Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field, along with at least 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment. Your background includes working with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution systems, which has equipped you with the skills necessary to handle complex electrical tasks. You are familiar with OSHA standard safety equipment and understand the importance of safety protocols in a technical environment. Your ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs demonstrates your physical capability to perform the job effectively.

You have a strong preference for candidates with experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or in a construction/technical environment. Your knowledge extends to data centers, hospitals, or power plants, where you have gained insights into the specific electrical systems used in these settings. You are adept at using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques with standard hand tools and digital metering equipment. Your communication skills allow you to effectively interact with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems.

What you'll do

In this role, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions within Google's data centers. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of critical systems such as UPS, generators, and electrical distribution. You will be tasked with assessing the working order of various systems and responding to any abnormal conditions that may arise. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure.

You will collaborate with a team of technicians to ensure that all electrical systems are functioning optimally, which is vital for maintaining the overall efficiency of the data center. Your role will require you to work non-standard hours and participate in shift rotations, ensuring that the facilities are monitored and maintained around the clock. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues, which will require a keen understanding of electrical systems and the ability to think critically under pressure.

What we offer
