What you’ll do
- Technical Leadership & Strategy — lead design and development of scalable, high performance database solutions, set the technology roadmap, and drive innovation through adoption of advanced analytics, automation, and emerging platforms.
- Operational Excellence — Champion continuous database service availability by proactively managing risks, leading incident resolution, and leveraging monitoring tools to predict and prevent performance issues.
- Strategic Project Delivery — Oversee complex migrations, modernization initiatives, and proofs of concept that align with enterprise architecture and deliver measurable business value.
- Security, Compliance & Risk Management — Embed security by design, translate regulatory requirements into technical actions, and conduct rigorous risk assessments to maintain compliance and resilience.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Act as the primary bridge between global technology governance and local business needs, influencing solution design and representing the region in global forums.
- Team Development & Culture — Build a high-performance engineering culture by mentoring others, developing talent pipelines, and fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation — Lead automation, data driven optimization, and competitive benchmarking to continually enhance service quality and efficiency.
What’s REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in database management, with a focus on automation, standardization, monitoring, observability, performance optimization, and disaster recovery.
- Strong expertise in leading database technologies, including PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Oracle and MySQL.
- Strong expertise in public cloud data / database services, including AWS RDS, Aurora, Snowflake and MongoDB Atlas.
- Extensive experience in database automation and self-service design and implementation.
- Extensive experience in performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring/observability tools.
- Strong expertise in database infrastructure stack including compute, storage and networking requirements.
- Strong expertise in clustering, replication, failover, backup/recovery strategies, disaster recovery, and geo-redundancy.
- Strong ability to lead geographically dispersed technical teams, set vision, and inspire high performance.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Strong root cause analysis and decision-making under pressure
- Certification in database management or related areas.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
