Overview

Kaluza is seeking an Engineer II to focus on migrations of accounts from legacy systems to their platform. You'll analyze customer data to identify trends and strategies for smooth transitions. This position offers a salary range of €46,200 - €55,000.

Job Description

Job title: Engineer II

Location: Paris, France

Salary: €46,200 - €55,000

Team: Client Engineering

Reporting To: Software Engineering Manager

Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. Our intelligent platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all.

From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system.

At Kaluza we embrace a flexible, hybrid work model that balances autonomy with the power of in-person connection. Many of our teams find value in coming together regularly to collaborate, strengthen relationships, and accelerate progress. We’re focused on shaping thoughtful, team-driven approaches that support both business impact and individual well-being.

We also prioritise meaningful company-wide gatherings like our annual conference and end-of-year celebrations, that bring us together to align, connect, and celebrate.

What will I be doing?

You will be focused on a domain within our Client Engineering function, building out tools to support migrations of accounts from legacy systems to the Kaluza systems.

You'll analyze customer data to understand user behavior and product performance. You'll focus on customer cohorts, linking findings to migration plans by identifying trends and optimal strategies for a smooth customer transition.

You'll work with our wider product teams to build and maintain high-performance data pipelines as we migrate many customers every day.

Teamwork is key. You'll collaborate closely with customers, building trust and understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction. Clearly explaining complex data will be crucial for maintaining strong customer relationships.

Our tech stack is very fluid, but broadly you can find yourself working with:

Typescript, Databricks, Node JS, Terraform, Gitactions, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Kafka, GraphQL

About You

Ideally you’ll have/be

  • Solid experience developing backend applications, ideally in TypeScript or a willingness to pick it up quickly.
  • Background in a data engineering environment, working with some or all of OLAP tools (e.g. Databricks), API Management tools (e.g. Mulesoft) or Data Mapping techniques.
  • Extremely comfortable working with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), especially data technologies.
  • Experience with database design, optimisation, and maintenance (SQL or NoSQL).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills — you enjoy mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Proactive mindset and ability to thrive in ambiguity.
  • Bilingual (French and English)

What will set you apart

  • Experience in a data analytics role, able to tell compelling stories and extract insights from large volumes of data.
  • Experience developing tooling on a prior migration programme.

Other Requirements

Kaluza is a global business, as a result the person in this role will be required to travel as part of commercial and deployment activities. By way of a guide, it’s expected you will be able to visit client offices in Paris and Brussels on a frequent basis. Travel further afield will be possible on an ad-hoc basis.
