SpaceX is hiring a Loads & Dynamics Engineer for the Starship Dynamics team to conduct dynamic and vibration analyses on the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. You'll work with MATLAB, AutoCAD, and Python to support hardware and mission design decisions.
You have a strong background in dynamics engineering, with experience in multibody dynamics and structural loads analysis. You are proficient in MATLAB and AutoCAD, and you have a solid understanding of fluid dynamics and vibration analysis. Your analytical skills allow you to solve complex engineering problems effectively, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can work closely with other engineers. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for aerospace engineering, particularly in the context of space exploration. You understand the importance of rigorous testing and analysis in ensuring the safety and reliability of aerospace vehicles.
Experience with Python for data analysis and simulation is a plus. Familiarity with aerospace standards and practices will enhance your candidacy. A background in vibration and aeroacoustics will also be beneficial, as will any experience with flight/test operations support.
As a Loads & Dynamics Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting dynamic and vibration analyses on the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. You will collaborate with the Starship Responsible Engineers to drive hardware and mission design decisions. Your role will involve solving rigid body dynamics problems, including mechanism and kinematics, as well as vehicle landing and payload deployment. You will also be tasked with performing Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA) and modal analysis, ensuring that the primary structure and payloads can withstand the dynamic loads they will encounter during flight.
You will work closely with the Environments team to predict and measure vibroacoustic loads due to aeroacoustic environments, contributing to the overall understanding of engine dynamics. Additionally, you will engage with the Fluid Transients team to predict unsteady and modal fluid dynamics, addressing challenges such as waterhammer and pogo dynamics. Your contributions will be critical in supporting flight/test operations and ensuring the success of SpaceX's ambitious missions.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of aerospace engineering. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration. Join us in our mission to enable human life on Mars and be part of a team that is making history.
