Who you are

You are a motivated individual pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting. You have experience with design software such as AutoCAD and Fusion 360, allowing you to create detailed mechanical designs. You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to innovative products that enhance security and efficiency.

You possess strong analytical skills, enabling you to prototype and analyze mechanical systems effectively. You understand the importance of environmental resistance and thermal performance in product design, and you are keen to learn about the entire product lifecycle from concept to mass production. Desirable

Experience with IoT products or hardware design is a plus, as is familiarity with prototyping techniques and materials. You are open to feedback and eager to grow your skills through hands-on experience.

What you'll do

As a Product Design Mechanical Engineer Intern at Verkada, you will take ownership of product designs from concept to mass production. You will work closely with a small, fast-paced team, making key design decisions that will impact the future of Verkada's products. Your responsibilities will include prototyping mechanical systems and analyzing them to meet product requirements relevant to enterprise hardware, such as mounting, sealing, and tamper resistance.

You will engage in brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas for new products and improvements to existing ones. Your role will also involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and product managers, to ensure that mechanical designs align with overall product goals. You will learn about the manufacturing process and how to optimize designs for mass production, gaining valuable insights into the product development lifecycle.
