Overview

Google is seeking a Site Reliability Manager to oversee the Ads Quality Infrastructure team. Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with 8 years of experience in software development using one or more programming languages. Your experience includes at least 3 years managing teams and leading projects, demonstrating your ability to guide and mentor others effectively. You possess a strong background in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems, which is crucial for ensuring the reliability of large-scale services. A Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred, showcasing your commitment to furthering your knowledge in the field. Your expertise in system reliability and monitoring is complemented by a passion for automation, allowing you to optimize existing systems and eliminate repetitive tasks.

You understand the unique challenges of scale that come with working at Google and are eager to tackle them head-on. What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of Google's Ads Quality Infrastructure. You will design, write, and deliver software solutions that improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of services. Your responsibilities will include managing complex challenges unique to Google, leveraging your expertise in coding and system design. You will ensure that services meet the uptime requirements of users while continuously improving their performance.

You will be responsible for automating responses to non-exceptional service conditions, preventing problem recurrence through effective automation strategies. Leading by example, you will mentor your team, establishing credibility through quality technical execution. You will also manage on-call rotations, ensuring that the team is prepared to respond to incidents effectively.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential as you work to optimize existing systems and build new infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the SRE team and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Your role will involve analyzing system performance and capacity, making data-driven decisions to enhance service reliability.
