Nuro is seeking a Software Engineer for their Performance team to develop and integrate a hybrid cloud performance benchmarking cluster. You'll work with Java and machine learning technologies to support autonomy feature development in Mountain View.
You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in developing and integrating complex systems — your expertise in Java and cloud technologies allows you to build robust performance benchmarking infrastructures. You understand the intricacies of machine learning and how it interacts with hardware, particularly in the context of autonomous systems. You thrive in collaborative environments and are committed to fostering inclusion and psychological safety within your team. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for optimizing performance in software applications, particularly in the realm of autonomous vehicles.
Experience with performance testing and benchmarking in cloud environments is a plus. Familiarity with robotics or autonomous systems will help you excel in this role. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and integration of a hybrid cloud performance benchmarking cluster that is essential for testing autonomy features. You will work closely with engineers to evaluate and regression test various aspects of software and hardware integration. Your work will involve creating simulated latency profiles and tuning camera ISP, ensuring that the systems are efficient and effective. You will answer critical questions regarding the impact of new machine learning models on GPU contention and sensor-to-actuation latency. Your contributions will directly influence the performance and reliability of Nuro's autonomous systems.
