Point72 is seeking a Cubist Data Scientist to join their data services group. You'll collaborate to build scalable solutions for predictive modeling in finance, requiring basic programming experience in Python and SQL. Financial industry experience is preferred but not required.
You are an entry-level Data Scientist with basic programming experience in Python and SQL — you understand the importance of data in driving decision-making and are eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. You possess strong organizational and communication skills, allowing you to effectively coordinate with various teams and stakeholders. Your attention to detail and love of process ensure that you maintain high standards in data management and delivery. You are comfortable multitasking and prioritizing assignments, demonstrating sound judgment in handling queries and issues that arise in the data workflow.
Experience with AWS and Airflow is preferred but not required, as you are open to learning new tools and technologies. A background in the financial industry is a plus, but your enthusiasm for data and willingness to collaborate with others is what truly sets you apart.
As a Data Scientist at Point72, you will play a vital role in the Cubist data services group, responsible for the timely delivery of comprehensive and error-free data to systematic Portfolio Managers. You will identify potential data sources and coordinate with compliance and legal teams on new vendor trials and subscriptions. Your responsibilities will include assisting with data questions and requests from investment teams, setting up feed downloads, and monitoring the automated data collection and cleansing infrastructure. You will also coordinate meetings and conference calls between data users and experts, ensuring that everyone is aligned and informed.
In addition, you will assist in organizing presentations and handle user requests regarding data. You will download trial datasets from vendor FTP sites or other delivery mechanisms and support the Data Team with manual data processing as required. Maintaining the Cubist Data Wiki contents will also be part of your role, ensuring that all team members have access to up-to-date information and resources.
