CC++Embedded Linux

Overview

SpaceX is seeking an Embedded Engineer for the Starlink flight software team to design and develop software for controlling flight and ground systems. You'll work with C and C++ in Redmond, WA.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in embedded systems development, with experience in C and C++ programming languages — you've designed and implemented software for complex systems, ensuring reliability and performance. You thrive in collaborative environments, engaging with cross-functional teams to understand mission requirements and translate them into effective software solutions. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, allowing you to tackle challenges in software design and testing with confidence. You are motivated by ambitious goals and are eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of technology.

Desirable

Experience with embedded Linux is a plus, as it will help you navigate the intricacies of the systems you will be working on. Familiarity with aerospace or robotics is beneficial, but not required — what matters most is your ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges. A passion for space exploration and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the field of aerospace technology will set you apart.

What you'll do

As an Embedded Engineer on the Starlink flight software team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software that controls both flight and ground systems for SpaceX's satellite constellation. You will engage with other engineers to gather requirements and ensure that the software you create meets the high standards necessary for space missions. Your role will involve the complete software life cycle, from initial development through rigorous testing and operational deployment. You will develop autonomous software systems that are resilient and fault-tolerant, ensuring they perform reliably in the demanding environment of space.

You will also build prototypes and analyze system metrics to validate design concepts and quantify technical constraints. Collaborating closely with hardware engineers, you will ensure seamless integration between software and hardware components. Your contributions will directly impact the success of SpaceX's missions, as you work on systems that orchestrate the world's largest satellite constellation. You will be part of a team that is not only focused on technical excellence but also on pushing the boundaries of what is possible in aerospace technology.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven company that is dedicated to making life multi-planetary. You will work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry, contributing to projects that have a real impact on the future of humanity. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged and your contributions are valued. Join us in our quest to explore the stars and make a difference in the world.
