Job Description

Amazon Operations Technology Networking owns the design, planning, delivery, and support of the global infrastructure for Amazon fulfillment and transportation sites. Our network solutions are used by hundreds of thousands of associates and play a critical role in billions of shipments per year. In other words, we are the people who keep Amazon's warehouses digitally connected and operating efficiently.

You’ll join a diverse team of network, and software engineers, supply chain specialists, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across Fulfillment Technology & Robotics to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The team is seeking a Sr. Network Development Engineer to deliver of our next-generation of network solutions across operational sites. This role is crucial in transforming innovative designs into production-ready implementations that support an ecosystem of robotics, industrial IoT, sensors, drones, and mobile devices. We own the end-to-end process of delivering these next-generation networks, from managing vendor relationships and telecom connectivity between sites and AWS, to implementing and scaling new network architectures. The ideal candidate will drive the seamless integration of state-of-the-art networking technologies, ensuring our facilities remain at the forefront of digital connectivity and operational efficiency.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop solutions to forecast capacity needs and proactively scale the network ahead of customer demand.
- You will create and automate deployment processes that increases quality and velocity.
- Lead complex network incident investigations and drive root cause analysis.
- You and your team will participate in 1 to 3 year planning. This takes the form of creating and defending design documents and influencing technology roadmaps.

A day in the life
Engineers on this team are responsible for designing, maintaining and operating Amazon's Fulfillment Center Network. This team is primary responsible for the delivering highly available network solutions in all layers of the network and delivering ISP connectivity. Sr Engineers are responsible for creating 1 and 3 year plans for network design, reviewing designs from other engineers/partner teams, and creating automation to deploy/operate the networks.

- 8+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
- 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience- Experience with network monitoring, metrics, observability platforms, and capacity planning
- Deep expertise in network architecture design and implementation at scale
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex architectural problems into executable solutions
- Strong track record of driving engineering best practices and standards
- Experience in capacity planning and proactive scaling of network infrastructure
- Advanced networking certifications (CCIE, CCNP, etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
