Overview

Waymo is seeking a Technical Lead Manager for their Sensor Simulation team to develop advanced simulation solutions for autonomous driving. Who you are

You have a strong background in machine learning and software engineering, with at least 5 years of experience leading technical teams. Your expertise in Python and C++ allows you to develop complex algorithms and systems that enhance simulation fidelity. You are skilled in using advanced ML technologies and have a deep understanding of simulation environments, including realistic modeling of agents and sensor suites. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with engineers and data scientists to achieve common goals. You are passionate about improving autonomous driving technology and are committed to safety and innovation in mobility solutions.

Desirable

Experience with large-scale datasets and reconstructive methods is a plus. Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies like Docker will help you excel in this role. You understand the importance of scalability and controllability in simulations and are eager to explore new ML techniques to push the boundaries of what's possible in autonomous driving.

What you'll do

As the Technical Lead Manager, you will oversee the Simulator Team at Waymo, guiding a diverse group of machine learning engineers, software engineers, and data scientists. You will be responsible for developing state-of-the-art simulations that accurately reflect real-world environments, including traffic systems and weather conditions. Your role will involve modeling realistic agents such as vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring that the Waymo Driver is tested in a variety of scenarios. You will lead the team in employing the latest ML technologies, including foundational world models and large language models, to enhance simulation performance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project goals and deliverables, ensuring that simulations meet the rigorous standards required for autonomous driving. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging team members to share ideas and explore new methodologies. You will also be involved in mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers within the company.
