Databricks is seeking a Senior Counsel, Employment (APAC) to provide legal counseling on employment matters across the Asia Pacific region. This role involves advising on various employment-related issues and supporting global projects. Experience in employment law is essential.

Who you are

You are an experienced legal professional with a strong background in employment law, particularly within the Asia Pacific region. You have a proven track record of providing legal counsel to HR teams and business partners, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. Your expertise includes advising on hiring practices, labor relations, and employee rights, making you a trusted advisor in the workplace. You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-legal stakeholders. You thrive in collaborative environments and are adept at building relationships with cross-functional teams. You are proactive in identifying potential legal risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring that the organization operates within legal boundaries while pursuing its business objectives.

Desirable

Experience working in a multinational corporation is a plus, as is familiarity with employment laws in Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. You may also have experience in managing pre-litigation disputes and navigating complex employment issues. A strong understanding of compliance frameworks and the ability to establish processes in new locations will set you apart.

What you'll do

In this role, you will provide pragmatic, risk-balanced employment advice across the APAC region. You will be responsible for advising on various matters, including hiring and recruiting, contingent worker arrangements, labor relations, investigations, performance management, and terminations. You will also support the People Team in developing policies and procedures that align with local laws and best practices. Your role will involve managing pre-litigation employment disputes and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment regulations. You will help establish foundational processes for new locations, ensuring that the organization is well-prepared to navigate the complexities of employment law in different jurisdictions. Additionally, you will participate in global employment-related projects, contributing your expertise to enhance the company's overall employment strategy.
