Job Description

AWS networking is the backbone of our whole cloud offering and we are at the forefront of technology and innovation to run the largest networks in the world. We push the boundaries of robustness, fault-tolerance and smart adaptive algorithms that can react intelligently to real-world events. This is your time to make history by building massive-scale distributed software systems. In AWS Networking, we develop software at every level of the stack from front-end user interfaces to low-level embedded software and everything in between.

As a Software Development Manager on the Network Data Model Services(NDMS) team you will own the creation and delivery of an exciting roadmap, build a great team and culture and work closely with the hundreds of services that rely upon NDMS data. NDMS services provide customers with accurate and real-time sources of information about the state of AWS network entities(devices, hardware, topology, links and software). This data is needed to accurately monitor the vast AWS network, perform traffic engineering, apply machine learning models to predict capacity and hundreds of other business cases. We provide customers with APIs, data streams, rich UI portals and export processes, that provide them insights about the AWS network.

Key job responsibilities


- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
