Overview

Relativity is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver propulsion systems for their Terran R rocket. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create integrated fluid systems. This role requires significant experience in mechanical engineering.

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in designing propulsion systems or similar fluid systems. Your expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks allows you to create detailed designs that meet rigorous specifications. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges. You are passionate about aerospace and understand the intricacies of rocket propulsion systems, ensuring that every component works seamlessly together.

You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can think critically about design challenges. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders ensures that your designs are understood and implemented correctly. You are detail-oriented, with a strong focus on quality and safety in engineering practices. You are also adaptable, able to pivot and adjust designs based on testing and feedback, ensuring that the final product meets all performance requirements.

Desirable

Experience with fluid dynamics and thermodynamics is a plus, as is familiarity with aerospace standards and regulations. You may have worked on projects that required innovative thinking and creativity, pushing the boundaries of traditional engineering practices. A background in manufacturing processes and materials science will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Relativity, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of propulsion systems for the Terran R rocket. You will lead the Stage Fluids team, overseeing the development of propellant, pressurant, and pneumatic systems. Your role will involve creating detailed designs, conducting simulations, and collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure that your designs are feasible and can be produced efficiently.

You will also participate in testing and validation processes, analyzing data to refine your designs and improve performance. Your insights will help shape the direction of the project, as you work closely with engineers from various disciplines to integrate your systems into the overall rocket design. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their careers.
