Astranis is hiring a Manufacturing Specialist, PCBA to support the build of PCBAs for satellite production. You'll focus on quality and manufacturability while working in San Francisco. This role requires skills in Altium Designer and Embedded Linux.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a foundational understanding of PCB assembly processes and are eager to learn more about the intricacies of manufacturing in the aerospace industry. Your attention to detail ensures that you can assist with first pass DFM reviews, helping teams drive towards designs that are manufacturable. You are comfortable performing physical reworks and repairs as non-conformances arise, demonstrating your hands-on skills and problem-solving abilities. You obsess about material movement, board status, and throughput, ultimately shepherding boards from entry to exit. Your proactive approach to managing incoming and outgoing materials contributes to the overall efficiency of the production process.

Desirable

Experience with Altium Designer is a plus, as it will help you in your role of preparing components for assembly. Familiarity with Embedded Linux can also enhance your contributions to the team, allowing you to understand the software aspects of the hardware you are working with. You are a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is excited about the opportunity to work on advanced satellite technology.

What you'll do

In your role as a Manufacturing Specialist, you will support the build of all PCBAs required for satellite production at Astranis. You will assist with first pass DFM reviews, ensuring that designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards. Your responsibilities will include performing physical reworks and repairs as non-conformances arise, which is crucial for maintaining production timelines. You will also be involved in secondary processing for components to prepare them for assembly, ensuring that all materials are ready for the production line. Your focus on material movement and board status will help streamline the manufacturing process, allowing for efficient throughput from entry to exit. You will work closely with engineers and other specialists to identify areas for improvement in the manufacturing process, contributing to the overall success of the team.
