Google is seeking a Policy Development Lead for YouTube to develop global policies and product solutions focused on user safety. This role requires 5+ years of experience in policy, legal, or technology environments.
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment. Your background includes drafting or enforcing online platform policy and engaging with online public policy issues, demonstrating your ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. You possess excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a meticulous, detail-oriented approach to execution. Your communication and people management skills are top-notch, allowing you to influence and align with executive stakeholders effectively. You thrive in demanding and changing environments, balancing a holistic mindset with a focus on detail.
A JD, MBA, or Master’s degree is preferred, as well as experience in discussing sensitive or controversial policy/content areas. You have a proven track record of implementing projects successfully in fast-paced settings, showcasing your adaptability and strategic thinking.
As the Policy Development Lead for YouTube, you will be at the forefront of enhancing the platform's safety for users, viewers, and content creators. Your role involves developing global policies and product solutions that address content concerns while navigating global legal frameworks. You will collaborate with various teams, including Feature Teams and Enforcement, ensuring clarity and accountability in policy implementation. Your strategic insights will help propose new policies that improve Trust and Safety product market fit, adapting to the evolving needs of the platform. You will also communicate policy issues and needs related to new features and emerging global online content risks, ensuring that YouTube remains a safe space for expression.
