Customer Engineer, Application Modernization, Google Cloud

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture and development methodologies. Your background includes modernizing legacy applications and application performance profiling and tuning, particularly in customer-facing or support roles. You are skilled at engaging with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders, showcasing your ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

Your experience encompasses architectural design patterns and platform engineering, including Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, image management, and repository management. You are familiar with virtualization deployments, container deployments, application security, and networking, which allows you to provide comprehensive solutions to clients. You also have experience developing scalable architectures using API management and microservice frameworks, as well as exposure to the software development life-cycle.

You thrive in environments where you can facilitate productivity, mobility, and collaboration for educational institutions, government agencies, and businesses using Google Cloud products. You listen to customer needs and deliver tailored solutions that enhance their operations. Your problem-solving skills are essential as you assist fellow sales Googlers in addressing key technical issues for customers.

Desirable

Experience with one or more programming languages is a plus, as it complements your technical expertise. You are proactive in staying updated with industry trends and liaising with product marketing management and engineering teams to devise enhancements to Google Cloud products.

What you'll do

As a Customer Engineer, you will partner with technical sales teams as an enterprise hybrid cloud subject matter expert. Your role involves modernizing applications and identifying opportunities for migration to hybrid-cloud computing models. You will structure and execute prototyping workshops to validate proposed architectures, developing best practices and documenting requirements for prioritization with engineering teams.

Traveling to customer sites, conferences, and related events will be part of your responsibilities, where you will act as a public advocate for Google Cloud. You will engage with clients to understand their needs and challenges, providing them with the necessary support to leverage Google Cloud effectively. Your ability to present technical solutions to diverse audiences will be crucial in this role.
