Site Reliability Engineer (1-3yrs)

Who you are

You have 1-3 years of experience in site reliability engineering or a related field — you understand the importance of maintaining high availability and performance in large-scale systems. Your background includes working with cloud platforms like AWS, and you are comfortable with containerization technologies such as Docker. You have a solid understanding of Linux systems and scripting languages, particularly Python, which you use to automate tasks and improve system reliability.

You are familiar with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform — you know how to define and manage infrastructure through code, ensuring consistency and repeatability in deployments. You are a problem solver at heart, always looking for ways to optimize processes and enhance system performance. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges.

Desirable

Experience with monitoring and alerting tools is a plus — you understand how to set up effective monitoring systems to catch issues before they impact users. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines will help you contribute to the development and deployment processes, ensuring that new features are delivered smoothly and reliably.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of PhonePe's fintech infrastructure — you will monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance system performance. You will collaborate with development teams to ensure that applications are designed with reliability in mind, participating in architecture discussions and providing input on best practices.

You will automate repetitive tasks and processes, using your scripting skills to create tools that improve operational efficiency. You will also be involved in incident response, working to resolve issues quickly and effectively while minimizing downtime. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience, as you help ensure that PhonePe's services remain available and performant for millions of users.
