Tech Lead Manager - Multiverse

Who you are

You have 6+ years of industry experience in a quantitative or quality-focused engineering role, where you've developed hypotheses, designed and executed experiments, and processed data to draw meaningful conclusions. Your background includes a B.Sc. in Computer Science, and you have experience working with large-scale distributed systems, ideally at a FAANG company. You have a passion for solving complex technical challenges and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams, including data scientists and systems engineers.

You have a strong foundation in programming languages such as Java and Python, which you have used to build and manage infrastructure. Your experience managing small teams has equipped you with the skills to lead effectively while fostering a collaborative environment. You understand the importance of safety and reliability in autonomous driving technology and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to this mission.

Desirable

Experience with machine learning frameworks and data processing tools is a plus, as is familiarity with simulation environments for autonomous systems. You are comfortable navigating the challenges of large-scale data processing and decision-making in real-time scenarios.

What you'll do

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Senior Engineering Manager and lead the Multiverse team in evaluating the Waymo Driver through simulations and real-world testing. Your responsibilities will include building the infrastructure necessary to administer evaluations and ensuring that the software handles complex driving scenarios safely and gracefully. You will collaborate closely with engineers, researchers, and data scientists to understand tricky situations and anticipate challenges that may arise in the future.

You will be responsible for overseeing the design and execution of experiments that assess the performance of the Waymo Driver, synthesizing data to inform improvements and updates. Your leadership will guide the team in developing innovative solutions to enhance the safety and reliability of autonomous driving technology.
