Uber is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to enhance their Linux and storage infrastructure. You'll focus on automating and improving systems for high availability and efficiency. This role requires 5+ years of experience in systems engineering.
You have over 5 years of experience in systems engineering, particularly with Linux and storage infrastructure. Your background includes a strong understanding of software engineering principles and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. You are familiar with cloud technologies and have a keen interest in infrastructure automation. Your collaborative nature allows you to work effectively across teams, driving alignment and progress in projects. You are committed to writing clean, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews to ensure quality across the team. You are eager to contribute to the planning and design of new systems while improving existing ones to enhance efficiency and insight.
Experience with large-scale systems and a deep understanding of kernel upgrades and host-level insights would be beneficial. Familiarity with workload scheduling and fleet security is a plus, as is a passion for continuous learning and improvement in engineering practices.
In this role, you will contribute to the planning, design, and architecture of Uber's infrastructure systems. You will work on building tooling and observability features that support reliable workload scheduling and fleet security. Your responsibilities will include implementing solutions in Go, focusing on clean and readable code with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage. You will actively engage in peer code reviews, ensuring quality and sharing knowledge across the team. Additionally, you will help cultivate engineering practices related to quality monitoring and on-call responsibilities. By owning part of the team's charter, you will play a key role in setting the longer-term direction for the team and driving improvements in system efficiency.
