Wheely is seeking a Technical Lead Manager to oversee a team of developers and drive the development of a privacy-focused ride-hailing platform. You'll work primarily with Go and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions. This role requires 5+ years of experience in backend services.
You have over 5 years of experience developing scalable and reliable backend services — you've managed teams and contributed to the architecture of complex systems. Your proficiency with programming languages such as Go, Ruby, Python, C++, Java, and Kotlin allows you to adapt to various technical challenges. You possess in-depth knowledge of databases and messaging systems, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, and RabbitMQ, which enables you to design efficient data flows and storage solutions. Your upper-intermediate English proficiency ensures effective communication within diverse teams.
You thrive in collaborative environments — working closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, testers, and product managers, to gather requirements and discuss project goals is second nature to you. You are committed to writing clean, scalable, and efficient code, and you take pride in reviewing and providing feedback on your peers' work to maintain high standards of code quality. You understand the importance of technical documentation and are skilled at maintaining software design documents and user guides.
Experience with cloud services like AWS and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform is a plus. Familiarity with container orchestration using Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins will enhance your ability to lead technical projects effectively.
As a Technical Lead Manager at Wheely, you will manage a team of approximately 10 developers on a day-to-day basis — participating in planning, project management, and delivery while focusing on the career development of your direct reports. You will architect medium- and large-sized features, ensuring they align with the company's vision of user privacy and service excellence. Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define project goals, ensuring that all technical requirements are thoroughly analyzed and evaluated.
You will be responsible for writing clean, scalable, and efficient code primarily in Go, while also leveraging your knowledge of other languages as needed. Code reviews will be a significant part of your responsibilities, as you will provide constructive feedback to your peers to ensure consistency, readability, and efficiency across the codebase. Additionally, you will maintain technical documentation, including software design documents and user guides, to support the team's development efforts.
Wheely offers flexible working hours and a competitive salary, along with employee stock options and a range of exceptional perks and benefits. You will have access to medical insurance, including dental coverage, life and critical illness insurance, and a lunch allowance. We provide best-in-class equipment and professional development subsidies to support your growth. Join us in building a platform that prioritizes user privacy while delivering a five-star service to millions of rides across multiple cities.
