Project management

Overview

Google is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead submarine cable deployment projects. You'll leverage your program management experience and technical expertise to coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure project success. Fluency in English, Portuguese, and Spanish is required.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 5 years of experience in program management. Your background includes working with submarine cables, whether in deployment, installation, testing, or equipment handling. You are fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, enabling you to facilitate effective communication with clients and stakeholders. Your experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects has equipped you with the skills to navigate complex environments and adapt to situations of ambiguity. You possess strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills, which are essential for managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable

A Master's degree in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering, mathematics, physics, environmental science, or oceanography is preferred. You have a solid understanding of marine route engineering, environmental permitting, marine construction, civil engineering, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance, which are all relevant to submarine cable deployment. Your ability to collaborate with international project teams and work remotely with teammates is a significant asset in this role.

What you'll do

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You will work closely with stakeholders to plan project requirements, identify risks, manage schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your role will involve monitoring permit application processes and assessing schedule impacts, ensuring that all necessary permits are acquired in a timely manner. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the readiness of cable landing stations, fronthaul, backhaul, and beach infrastructure to support cable installation. Managing vendor performance for contracted deliverables, quality, budget, and schedule will be a key responsibility, as you strive to ensure that all project components align with Google's high standards.

What we offer

At Google, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to building products that create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. You will have the chance to work on innovative projects that have a significant impact on global connectivity. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Join us in shaping the future of cloud networking and submarine cable deployment.
