Software Engineer III, Data Cloud, Spanner Graph Intelligence

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and have at least 2 years of experience developing large-scale distributed software. If you have an advanced degree, you may qualify with just 1 year of experience in an industry setting. You have a strong background in C++, Java, or Go, with a focus on writing high-performance, low-latency code. Your experience includes working with distributed databases, understanding database internals, and optimizing query processing. You may also have experience designing and developing database internals, query planning, and execution, as well as developing graph algorithms. Familiarity with Graph Neural Networks (GNN) or GraphRAG for production systems is a plus.

Desirable

A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field would be advantageous. You bring fresh ideas from various areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing. You are eager to innovate and take ownership of your projects, anticipating customer needs and driving projects from vague requirements through to production deployment.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer III at Google, you will design, build, and maintain graph intelligence capabilities on Spanner. You will implement languages, such as GoogleSQL, that allow users to express their graph intelligence intent. Your role will involve exploring, prototyping, and productionizing approaches to integrate graph intelligence into AI and ML systems. You will work on specific projects critical to Google Cloud's needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. Your contributions will directly enhance Google’s flagship database, and you will be empowered to act like an owner in your work.
