Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer for their Starlink project to ensure the reliability and performance of satellites and ground stations. You'll analyze hardware failures and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This role requires expertise in electrical engineering and PCB design.

Who you are

You have a strong background in hardware engineering, particularly in failure analysis and reliability testing. With experience in analyzing and resolving hardware failures, you understand the complexities of electronic components and PCBAs. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to enhance product reliability. Your analytical skills enable you to identify root causes of failures and implement effective corrective actions. You are familiar with using schematics and test equipment to conduct thorough investigations on hardware components. You are detail-oriented and driven by the goal of improving the longevity and robustness of hardware systems.

Desirable

Experience with satellite or aerospace hardware is a plus, as is familiarity with manufacturing processes and supply chain dynamics. Knowledge of industry standards for reliability testing and quality assurance will set you apart. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute to cutting-edge R&D technology.

What you'll do

As a Hardware Development Engineer for Starlink, you will perform detailed failure analysis on satellite and gateway hardware, identifying root causes of failures and implementing corrective actions to improve reliability. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to enhance product reliability and optimize manufacturing processes. Utilizing schematics and test equipment, you will conduct failure investigations on PCBAs and other electronic components, ensuring that all hardware meets stringent quality metrics. You will monitor yield rates and quality metrics, driving corrective actions to address non-conforming products. Your role will involve maintaining a close feedback loop with test engineers to improve testing assets and methodologies. You will also participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss findings and propose solutions that enhance the overall reliability of the Starlink network.
