Google is seeking a Manager for Data Center Land Development and Portfolio Management to lead negotiations and manage land development activities for hyperscale data centers. This role requires extensive experience in real estate and people management.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent practical experience. With 14 years of experience leading negotiations or business development in the real estate industry, you have a strong background in land development activities, particularly in industrial, data center, or technology manufacturing development. Your 8 years of experience in people management have equipped you with the skills to lead teams effectively. You are well-versed in managing the life-cycle of land development activities across various domains, including zoning and entitlements, utility infrastructure, permitting, and environmental considerations. Your understanding of utility development processes and experience in leading utility infrastructure, supply, and service agreements make you a strong candidate for this role.
You have experience leading complex and scalable cross-functional programs and developing site and infrastructure for hyperscale data centers or mission-critical facilities. Your understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and the trade-offs necessary to meet program requirements is a significant asset. Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential for this leadership role within Google's Infrastructure Construction and Asset Management (ICAM) team.
In this critical role, you will oversee Google's global network of hyperscale data centers, ensuring that capacity scales securely, reliably, and on budget. You will manage off-site infrastructure, inventory land, and both leased and owned data center assets, rigorously protecting Google’s long-term capacity rights. Your responsibilities will include ensuring seamless cross-functional collaboration with internal partners such as Acquisitions, Engineering, and Legal for smooth site handoffs, resolving technical and contractual issues quickly. You will also manage program budgeting, annual forecasting for Capital Expenditure and Operational Expenditure, and development spend. Leading team resource allocation and strategy during the land acquisition phase will be a key part of your role.
Google offers a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact on the infrastructure that powers Google Cloud and all online services. You will be part of a team that values collaboration and innovation, providing you with opportunities to grow and develop your skills in a supportive atmosphere. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we believe diverse teams build better products.
