Skydio is seeking a Senior Battery Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability of battery subsystems in autonomous drone systems. You'll work with battery design, failure analysis, and testing methodologies in San Mateo, California.
You have a strong background in battery reliability engineering, with expertise in thermal design and failure analysis. Your experience includes guiding teams in design for reliability principles and ensuring mission reliability across various applications. You are knowledgeable about battery subsystems and have a keen understanding of electronics and their integration into complex systems. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about delivering high-quality products that meet rigorous reliability standards.
Experience with autonomous systems and their unique reliability challenges is a plus. Familiarity with testing methodologies for battery systems, including abuse and abnormal testing, will set you apart. You are comfortable working with cross-functional teams and have a proactive approach to problem-solving.
In this role, you will own the battery reliability strategy, guiding the battery team in all aspects of reliability, including thermal design and degradation analysis. You will expand and execute battery test capabilities, specifying fixtures and conducting various tests to ensure the performance and safety of battery systems. Your work will directly impact the reliability of Skydio's autonomous drones, contributing to their success in diverse applications such as public safety and infrastructure inspection. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate reliability considerations into the design process and provide insights based on failure analysis to improve product performance.
