Waymo is seeking a Systems Engineer - Networks to create and own comprehensive requirements for cybersecurity and network communications for their autonomous vehicles. You'll work with OEMs and Functional Systems Engineers to define and implement network architecture. This role requires expertise in networking and cybersecurity.
You have a strong background in systems engineering with a focus on networks, ideally with 5+ years of experience in the field. Your expertise includes defining and implementing network architectures that meet functional, safety, and security goals. You are familiar with working alongside OEMs and have a solid understanding of cybersecurity requirements in automotive systems.
You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to align comprehensive network communication matrices and define critical interfaces between systems. Your experience with network protocols and architectures enables you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all aspects of network communication are addressed.
You are detail-oriented and have a proactive approach to problem-solving, which is essential in the fast-paced environment of autonomous driving technology. You understand the importance of safety and security in network communications and are committed to delivering high-quality solutions that enhance the overall performance of the Waymo Driver.
Experience with automotive systems and knowledge of industry standards related to cybersecurity and network communications would be a plus. Familiarity with tools and technologies used in network engineering, such as Cisco products, is also desirable.
In this role, you will create and own comprehensive requirements for cybersecurity and network communications for the Waymo vehicle. You will work closely with OEMs and Functional Systems Engineers to define and implement the network architecture, ensuring that it meets all functional, safety, and security goals. Your responsibilities will include aligning the comprehensive network communication matrix and defining critical interfaces between the Waymo system and the OEM base vehicle platform.
You will be responsible for conducting thorough analyses of network performance and security, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and implementing solutions to mitigate risks. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that all network communications are optimized for performance and reliability.
You will also participate in the testing and validation of network systems, ensuring that they meet the required specifications and standards. Your role will involve continuous improvement of network architectures and protocols, adapting to new technologies and industry trends as they emerge.
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $196,000—$248,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
