Amazon is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Leo AI Foundations team to design and implement globally distributed systems for low Earth orbit satellite connectivity. You'll work with AWS technologies to achieve low-latency query responses and support AI capabilities.
You have 5+ years of experience in software development, particularly in designing and implementing distributed systems. Your expertise in AWS technologies allows you to build scalable and cost-optimized solutions that meet high-performance requirements. You understand the intricacies of data management and analytics, and you are adept at ensuring data quality and integrity across systems.
You are familiar with architecting data lakehouses and OLAP-based analytics layers, and you have experience with metadata management and automated data classification. Your strong problem-solving skills enable you to establish standardized data ingestion patterns that incorporate quality controls and validation gates. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to contribute to innovative projects that have a significant impact on connectivity solutions.
Experience with real-time analytics and agentic AI capabilities is a plus. Familiarity with data quality frameworks and best practices in software engineering will enhance your contributions to the team.
In this role, you will architect and implement a scalable, cost-optimized S3-based Data Lakehouse that unifies structured and unstructured data from various sources. You will also design and implement a robust OLAP-based analytics layer that supports near real-time analytics for the Leo satellite network. Your responsibilities will include establishing metadata management practices, ensuring automated data classification, and tracking data lineage to maintain data integrity.
You will design and enforce standardized data ingestion patterns that incorporate built-in quality controls and validation gates. Additionally, you will architect a centralized metrics repository that serves as the source of truth for all Leo metrics, ensuring that the team has access to accurate and timely data for decision-making.
Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that the systems you build align with the overall mission of delivering fast and reliable internet connectivity. You will also be responsible for implementing robust data quality measures to ensure the reliability of the systems you develop.
