Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician III, Electrical to manage the uptime and maintenance of electrical systems in data centers. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This role requires 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With at least 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are familiar with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution systems. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and understand the importance of using OSHA standard safety equipment. Your ability to work non-standard hours and shifts makes you adaptable to the demands of the role.
You possess knowledge of electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. Your experience in maintenance within a technical environment, such as data centers, hospitals, or power plants, gives you a solid foundation for this position. You are skilled in using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques with standard hand tools and digital metering equipment.
In this role, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions of Google’s data centers. You will manage the uptime and maintenance of critical electrical systems, including UPS, generators, and electrical distribution. Your responsibilities will include responding to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally.
You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. Collaborating with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems will be a key part of your role, requiring effective communication and coordination.
Your expertise will contribute to the design and operation of sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems within the data center environment. You will be instrumental in assessing the working order of systems and ensuring that all equipment meets operational standards.
