Overview

Dropbox is seeking a Director of Product for their New Initiatives team to lead the development of innovative AI-driven products. You'll manage a cross-functional team and oversee the product lifecycle from incubation to market launch. This role requires strong product instincts and experience in collaboration and productivity tools.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a proven track record as a product leader with 5+ years of experience in product management, particularly in startup environments or innovation labs. Your entrepreneurial spirit drives you to take smart risks and push boundaries in product development. You possess deep product instincts and a strong execution bias, enabling you to navigate ambiguity and turn early signals into actionable strategies. Your familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their integration into product workflows sets you apart, as you understand how to leverage these capabilities to enhance collaboration and productivity.

You thrive in cross-functional settings, having successfully managed teams that include product, design, and engineering professionals. Your ability to communicate effectively across disciplines fosters collaboration and drives alignment on product vision and strategy. You are comfortable with rapid testing and iteration, using real user feedback to inform your decisions and refine your approach. Your background in productivity and collaboration tools equips you with insights into user needs and market trends, allowing you to create products that resonate with users.

Desirable

Experience in leading product initiatives that leverage AI technologies is a strong plus. A technical or design background will enhance your ability to engage with your team and stakeholders effectively. You are passionate about building products that not only meet market demands but also push the boundaries of what is possible in collaborative work environments.

What you'll do

As the Director of Product for New Initiatives at Dropbox, you will lead a small, highly autonomous team focused on developing a brand-new product from the ground up. You will be responsible for setting the vision and driving execution, ensuring that your team operates with speed and purpose. Your role will involve managing the full product lifecycle, from incubation through to market readiness, while collaborating closely with cross-functional leadership across the company.

You will serve as the head of a new product incubation track, where you will define product strategy and oversee execution. Your responsibilities will include conducting market research, identifying user needs, and developing a go-to-market strategy that aligns with Dropbox's overall objectives. You will lead your team in rapidly testing ideas and learning from user feedback, turning early signals into a durable product strategy.

In this role, you will also be expected to leverage AI-native capabilities to enhance product features and improve user experience. You will work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure that the product meets high standards of quality and usability. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within your team, encouraging them to take risks and learn from failures.

What we offer

Dropbox offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $272,000 to $368,000 USD, depending on your experience and the US zone in which you are located. You will have the opportunity to work in a fully remote environment, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance. As part of a company that values innovation and creativity, you will be empowered to make a significant impact on the future of collaborative work.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. At Dropbox, we believe that diverse teams build better products, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
